Can intensive animated graphics damage or destroy a computer screen?

The screen on my old laptop no longer works, Shortly after my using Winamp visualizations started. However, I am not convinced that was the cause. I want to use these "visualizations" with my music because they are still pretty cool to have while studying or another. Is there a danger that this could destroy my screen? I have a Sony Vaio. my old laptop that was destroyed was a Toshiba Satellite.
